Proxies offer a wide range of benefits to networks including increased security and bandwidth savings. They are widely used in corporate and school settings, but you can also configure them at home in case your connection speed slows down. Windows 10’s Settings app and Control Panel are where you can manage proxy settings. If you use a Proxy for school or work, ensure that the Automatic detection settings and Use setup script switches are enabled under the Automatic proxy Setup section.
Open the Internet Options window by clicking on the Control Panel icon or by typing “Internet options” into the search bar. Click the Advanced tab and open the LAN settings within it. Enter the information for your proxy provider in the Address and Port fields. Then check the box Use proxy server for your local area network, and close the Internet Options Window.
Malware can cause problems with the settings of your network proxy and prevent you from going online. If the error “Windows couldn’t automatically detect the proxy settings of this network” persists then run a scan using an anti-malware application and see if it can help.
If the problem persists, you can try resetting the proxy settings using the Registry. Be cautious, as altering the Registry could cause irreversible system damage. We suggest making a backup before proceeding with this method. To do this do this, press the Win + R keys at the same time. Enter cmd. This will open the classic Command Prompt.
